What Time Do Mutual Funds Update

As a community advisor, one of the questions I get asked often is, “What time do mutual fund update on Fidelity?” The answer to this question depends on the type of investment you’re looking at.

For ETFs, Fidelity updates the price throughout the day (real-time reporting). This means that you can see changes to the stock price at any time during the trading day.

From my personal experience, I’ve noticed that mutual funds tend to update an hour after the market closes. This usually happens around 4:15 pm CDT.

Here’s an official response from a Fidelity representative:

The timing of mutual fund balance updates at Fidelity is influenced by several factors, including the order of update from market close, when we receive that information, and when our system processes it online.

To ensure you have the most up-to-date information, it is recommended to check your positions tab to view the latest price updates.
